In the state of North Carolina, you must be 18 years old to receive a body piercing. However, it is permissible for a parent or legal guardian to provide written consent to pierce their child’s earlobes with proof of identification for both parties and proof of guardianship. We do not recommend piercing a child’s ears under 4 years old, but will consider every client on a case by case basis. Infants must be at least 8 weeks old and should have had their initial DPT vaccination.

Ear piercing is fast and generally very gentle. Most people feel very little discomfort during earlobe piercing. The most important factor for minimizing pain is remaining still during the piercing.

We will go at your child’s pace and do everything possible to make them comfortable. The length of time it takes to complete the process could vary. We always operate within your child’s willingness and ability to consent to the piercing. The short answer is yes, but it is very tolerable and typically hurts for a very short period of time.

Contrary to what you might assume, the jewelry used in a piercing gun is actually quite dull (and is notably more painful going through the earlobe) compared to the surgical grade needle used in a professional piercing studio. According to the Association of Professional Piercers reusable ear piercing guns can put clients in direct contact with the blood and body fluids of previous clients, and they can cause significant tissue damage. They also compress the tissue, which inhibits healing. Operators working at piercing kiosks [and using ear piercing guns] do not have to be trained in blood-borne pathogens and disease transmission. We do not recommend gun piercings.

We spare no expense to ensure service that reduces the risk of infection and jewelry that reduces the risk of rejection. Our work area is sterile and everything we use to pierce your child’s ears is individually wrapped and disposable. We are an authorized retailer for Neometal threadless body jewelry, which is 100% surgical implant grade titanium. It does cost more, but quality results are worth it.

We will thoroughly explain the aftercare instructions at your appointment. We don’t recommend changing your child’s jewelry before their ears are completely healed (4-6 weeks).
